Chapter IV
Understanding the Will of God Through Intimate Fellowship
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
Psalm 42:1 (ESV)
A.W. Tozer tells us: "Much of our difficulty as seeking Christians stems from our unwillingness to take God as He is and adjust our lives accordingly."1 Seeking the will of God—and genuinely finding it—may be worlds apart if we fail to learn who God is or to accept the sovereignty He has over our lives. That is why stepping beyond the veil becomes so crucial in the Christian life. To ignite the flames of eternal passion; to experience hunger—the fiery sensation, we must leave ourselves behind and move close to God. We must become one with Him. That is what it means to have intimate fellowship.
Searching for the will of God merely to find direction leaves little impact on the value we place on God’s choices for our life, especially if we already lack the proper inspiration. Worse yet, is when we place little value on intimacy with Christ. Although mankind has always sought to know their God, He has been found by very few. That is because very few pursued Him with a burning desire.
